www.programs.pbha.org

www.programs.pbha.org has two functions - it serves as the programming portal for the programming chairs as well as the server for PBHA program websites/blogs. To do this, www.programs.pbha.org uses WordPress MU, a program similar to Wordpress but allows the account to have multiple blogs without multiple installations.

What is Wordpress MU (Multiple Users)?

They are essentially the same except that Wordpress MU has one additional feature to the admin panel called Site Admin. There is one uber user account that controls the entire website - each blog (or site), user settings, etc. Use this menu to set things like creating new blog, adjusting the file quota of a site, creating new users. The Site Admin user account can control the entire www.programs.pbha.org. In addition, each blog/site can have a blog admin that can only control certain sites / blogs.

How is the programming portal organized?

The programming portal has three main functions:

  • Post information about each of the programs as well as host records of the bluesheets.
  • Provide information and resources on programming  - assessment, director training, reflection, etc.  Each of these resources are posts
  • Allow the programming chairs to post important announcements.

There are two types of posts - programs or announcements. Announcement posts are displayed on the homepage while visitors can search for posts associated with programs. By default, a post is a considered a program unless it is classified under the  ”Announcements” category.

How do I administer program websites?

Use the Blogs screen found under the Site Admin menu on the admin panel.

What about program websites on HCS?

This has caused a lot of headache for staff at PBHA because we cannot directly support those sites. It’s best to recommend programs to switch their website to www.programs.pbha.org. If they want to keep their old website on HCS, they can use these handy guides (yes, they are different files):
